Questions about the new Licensing System? Start Here!

Post Date:09/15/2025

On April 24, 2025, KREC migrated to a new licensing system through vendor Accela. Detailed instructions are available here for online processes such as renewal, affiliation changes, and contact updates. The FAQ section is updated to address common inquiries and approved real estate schools are required to update all content related to these changes.

Licensees: If you haven't logged in to the new licensing system yet, check your email for account credentials sent after 4/24/25 from elp@ks.gov to access your license records. Use the information emailed to you to access the Public Portal. Do not create another account! If you aren't receiving the password reset emails, you likely have a different email address on file.

Applicants: Anyone applying for a license should follow the pre-license checklists available here for salespersons and here for brokers. This process has changed! All new license applicants must first create an account with KREC, pay the application and background check fee, and obtain a PL number. This number must be provided to the school prior to completion of a pre-license course to move forward in the application and examination processes.

KREC staff are prepared to assist with your questions, however patience and professional communication are appreciated. Questions may be directed to the Licensing department at krec@ks.gov or the Education department at kreceducation@ks.gov, but we highly encourage you to explore the resources available at krec.ks.gov first.
